Seven-Day Dreaming Cambodia 7 Day Dream

Day 1: Angkor Wat & Small Circuit (Stay in Siem Reap)

Begin your journey after breakfast with a visit to the ticket office, where your three‑day Angkor pass will be issued. Driving along tree‑lined roads alive with playful monkeys, you’ll catch your first breathtaking glimpse of Angkor Wat—the world’s largest religious monument. Explore its grandeur before continuing to Angkor Thom’s South Gate, Bayon Temple, Baphuon, Phimeanakas, the Elephant Terrace, and the Terrace of the Leper King. The day concludes at Ta Keo and Ta Prohm (the famed “Tomb Raider Temple”), followed by sunset at Pre Rup or Phnom Bakheng. Return to Siem Reap for dinner at one of the city’s many international restaurants.

Day 2: Phnom Kulen, Tonle Sap Lake & Bakong Temple (Stay in Siem Reap)

After breakfast, travel north in an air‑conditioned vehicle to Phnom Kulen National Park. Visit Cambodia’s largest reclining Buddha, carved from sandstone atop a hill, then walk to the sacred River of 1000 Lingas, where carvings of Shiva and other deities adorn the riverbed. Continue to Phnom Kulen Waterfall, where you may swim or simply enjoy the tranquil surroundings.

After lunch at a local restaurant, explore the Rolous Group and Bakong Temple—the first sandstone temple mountain of the Khmer Empire, built in the 9th century as King Indravarman I’s state temple. Later, journey to Tonle Sap, Southeast Asia’s largest freshwater lake, for a boat ride through floating villages before returning to Siem Reap.

Day 3: Grand Circuit & Banteay Srei (Stay in Siem Reap)

Rise early for sunrise at Angkor Wat, then embark on the Grand Circuit. Highlights include Banteay Srei, Preah Khan, Neak Pean, Ta Som, East Mebon, Pre Rup, Banteay Kdei, and Prasat Kravan. Pause for a Khmer lunch near the temples before returning to your hotel or dining at a restaurant of your choice.

Day 4: Beng Mealea & Koh Ker (Stay in Sra Em, Preah Vihear)

Depart Siem Reap to explore Beng Mealea and Koh Ker, also known as the Lotus Pond temples. These largely unrestored complexes offer a hauntingly beautiful glimpse into Cambodia’s past. Afterward, enjoy refreshments and settle into comfortable accommodations in Sra Em village.

Day 5: Preah Vihear Temple (Stay in Sra Em, Preah Vihear)

After breakfast, visit the majestic Preah Vihear Temple, perched atop a 525‑meter cliff with sweeping views of Cambodia and Thailand. This UNESCO site is renowned for its scale, artistry, and cultural significance, including exhibits on the Kuy ethnic group’s role in Angkorian society. Be mindful of the mischievous monkeys that inhabit the area. In the evening, return to Sra Em for an overnight stay.

Day 6: Preah Khan Kompong Svay (Stay in Kampong Thom)

Travel onward to Preah Khan Kompong Svay, the largest single religious complex of the pre‑Angkorian era, spanning nearly 5 square kilometers. This temple, often visited by Cambodia’s current King, reflects the grandeur of early Khmer civilization. The province of Preah Vihear, once a contested border region, now offers a peaceful backdrop to your exploration. Continue to Kampong Thom for an overnight stay.

Day 7: Sambor Prei Kuk & Return to Siem Reap

After breakfast and hotel checkout, enjoy a brief tour of Kampong Thom city before visiting Sambor Prei Kuk. Dating from the 6th to 9th centuries, this pre‑Angkorian site features prasats, octagonal towers, shiva lingams, reservoirs, and lion sculptures nestled within serene subtropical forest.

Conclude your journey with a comfortable drive back to Siem Reap, where you’ll be dropped off at your hotel or Angkor International Airport.
