Day 1: Sunrise & the Small Circuit

Your adventure begins before dawn with a 4:45 a.m. departure to witness the sunrise at Angkor Wat, the world’s largest religious monument. Driving along tree-lined roads where monkeys play, you’ll catch your first breathtaking glimpse of the temple’s silhouette. After exploring its vast galleries, continue to the Angkor Thom South Gate, Bayon, Baphuon, Phimeanakas, the Elephant Terrace, the Terrace of the Leper King, Ta Keo, and finally the atmospheric Ta Prohm, famously known as the “Tomb Raider Temple.”

Day 2: The Grand Circuit & Tonle Sap Sunset

Begin at 8:30 a.m. with the Grand Circuit, visiting Preah Khan, Neak Pean, Ta Som, East Mebon, and Pre Rup. After lunch, journey to Tonle Sap Lake, Southeast Asia’s largest freshwater lake. Depending on the season, its size and volume change dramatically. A boat ride reveals floating villages and the daily lives of those who call the lake home. The day concludes with a serene sunset over the water before returning to your hotel.

Day 3: Banteay Srei & the Outer Circuit

After breakfast, venture to Banteay Srei, the “Lady Temple.” Built in the 10th century and dedicated to Shiva, this jewel of Khmer art is renowned for its delicate red-pink sandstone carvings and miniature scale. Continue to the Beng Mealea temple complexes and the Roluos Group, including Preah Ko and Bakong, each offering a glimpse into Cambodia’s early temple architecture.

Day 4: Preah Vihear & Koh Ker

An early 6 a.m. departure takes you to Preah Vihear, the largest single religious complex of the pre-Angkorian era, spanning five square kilometers. Perched on the border with Thailand and Laos, this site has witnessed centuries of conflict but now stands in peaceful silence. After lunch at a local restaurant, explore Koh Ker, a remote archaeological site 207 kilometers from Siem Reap. Known as the “Lotus Pond Temples,” Koh Ker boasts over 180 sanctuaries hidden in the jungle, though only a select few are accessible to visitors.

Day 5: Phnom Kulen National Park

The final day brings you to Phnom Kulen, a sacred mountain revered by both Hindus and Buddhists. Highlights include the giant reclining Buddha at Preah Ang Thom, the mystical Thousand Lingas carved into the riverbed, and the refreshing waterfalls where locals gather to cool off in crystal-clear waters. Be sure to bring clothes suitable for getting wet—it’s the perfect way to end your journey.
